Dragons Tryout Participants Await Their Fate

May 3, 2025

On Saturday, April 19th was the New York Dragons held their second and final open tryout at US Academy of Soccer in Farmingdale. There were plenty of faces to be seen there including many from the Long Island area.

One of those players was Kenneth Whipman who has been playing Football ever since he was young. One of the teams he played for was an arena football team in Brentwood. They would play before the original Dragons’ games at Nassau Coliseum and then they would watch the Dragons play.

And now, he has a chance to play for the new Dragons in the Entertainment Football Association.

“It’s just a full circle moment having the opportunity to try out for the rebranded Dragons,” sid Whipman. It’s good to be home at the Nassau Coliseum.”

Whipman, along with about 90 other players who attended open tryouts, have high hopes of being one of the 26 players invited by Head Coach Gerald Filardi to Dragons training camp in late May.

Invitations to camp are being sent out this week and the first two on that list are expected to be introduced next week.

The Dragons begin their inaugural ENTFLA season on Saturday June 7th in Danbury and then play their home opener at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday June 14th against the New Jersey Ciphers.

New York Dragons tickets are now available. Individual tickets are available at Tickemaster.com. For season and group ticket information, please visit www.nydragonsfootball.com.
